Organized by BOUNDED SPACE, the solo exhibition REMAINDER by artist Liu Chengrui opens on December 24, 2025. Throughout the exhibition, the artist will carry out a 21 days continuous performance project.

A large red cone (8m diameter, 3.8m high) is installed in the center. Carrying a backpack with his daily essentials, the artist walks around it repeatedly. Every seven rounds, he sprints and collides with the wall, marking the exact time after impact. He remains inside the cone area for the entire 21 days, except when necessary.

Also on view is the video documentation of Xining, a performance completed by the artist on the same date 20 years earlier (December 24, 2005), which records him walking barefoot around the main urban area of Xining City, covered in mud and holding balloons.

The exhibition includes 3,916 poems written by the artist over twenty years. Visitors may select a poem, pay via QR code (8.8 RMB per character), and “awaken” the artist to transcribe and sign the chosen work.

Outside the performance area, the walls are divided by a green stripe: below are poems printed on colored paper; above are recent paintings featuring recurring images of the poet, the arhat, and the skeleton, reflecting the spiritual state of the REMAINDER.
