‘第二层皮’— 卫璐琦
This work is titled "The Second Layer of Skin", and it consists of pigskin clothing, wearing record images, and a display stand.
"Human beings have 206 bones, but clothing can present countless appearances." Through the production time, wearing traces, and material changes of the pigskin clothing, the work implicitly explores the dimension of time. Those hanging clothes are like numerous time points of existence that serve as witnesses.
The creative essence that I have been pondering for a long time involves the dialectical relationship between reality and symbols. Transforming thoughts into entities or even language is, to some extent, a process of reducing dimensions, which also leads to the fact that the work is often perceived primarily for its appearance - and this precisely constitutes the deeper meaning of "The Second Layer of Skin".
