无限, Unlimited
‘无限’
— 伊琳娜·彼得拉科娃

I can also say about my works that they exist in a border zone — between figure and stain, intention and accident, corporeality and loss of form. And I catch the image at the moment of displacement, when it is about to become something else or disappear altogether. This fluidity and uncertainty is the essence of my work — as if painting were not a way of “showing” but a way of capturing inner tremors and instability. I am a graphic artist and sculptor by training, but I try to go beyond both media and, in general, strive for “picturesqueness,” but not painting as such. This is an important clarification: there is indeed no volume in my compositions, no spatial illusion — but there is flickering and permeability. Color in my works lives as a smudge, a coating, a trace.

I solve graphic problems — the relationship between spots and emptiness, lines and silence — but I do so as an artist who allows chance to intervene in the process. I ask myself where I end. At some point, you realize that you and your hand are just tools. This is not an escape from the world, but a trust in the reality that begins where the rational ends.
