‘生产失败’— 伊琳娜·彼得拉科娃
The video work Production Failure explores the notion of liminality — the threshold where the human and the animal, the artificial and the natural, the precise and the accidental collide and intertwine. The images of the human and the beast converge, and this boundary becomes dynamic: a process of observing the oscillation between human and animal forms. Over time, the heroine increasingly reveals her own feral nature — once again, a “production defect” makes itself known, this time within a living organism.
The video refers to a series of the artist’s graphic works, in which fragments of human bodies, animal claws, and fish tails flash through storms of oil paint. This vortex of recognizable figures, abstract bodily masses, and deliberately rough strokes reveals a transitional state between figuration and abstraction, where neither representation nor interpretation plays a decisive role. In the paintings and small graphic sheets, a special moment of visual malfunction is captured. This deliberate “error of reproduction” becomes both a means of bringing another reality to life and a documentation of a new stage in the evolution of the corporeal.
