Bled
The triology of desert extends to the north of Africa. Every spring to autumn, the Sahara transports its dust through air to Europe, where static charges from airborne particles interfere with aircraft, and European airports will have to cancel flights or close their terminals. Bled tells the history of the entanglement between Algeria and France spanning almost 200 years, weaving narratives of energy, colonization, immigration, festivals, nuclear tests, satellite television. These fragments of time together constitute a circulation of the everlasting human ambition to conquer each other.
Bian Yunxiang was born in Lanzhou, China in 1991. He graduated from the Royal College of Art with a Master in Digital Direction and currently lives and works in Shanghai. Bian's practice revolves around major impacts of technology on international geopolitical order. Structuring digital geo-landsacpes, he generates poetic motion graphics in the context of postcolonialism and global confrontation.
