Disordered Resonance: An Experimental Narrative Based on the Theme of The Butterfly Lovers
The work brings the thousand-year-old Chinese allusion of The Butterfly Lovers into the age of artificial intelligence, combining mechanical devices and digital imagery to reinterpret the "emotional entanglement" between robots. The emergence of AI has once again sparked the human imagination about machine life and consciousness. Is the institutional confinement faced by Liang and Zhu analogous to the coding limitations imposed on AI? Based on this question, Disordered Resonance envisions a possible world of human-machine symbiosis by breaking free from the constraints of coded order, thereby inspiring viewers to move beyond an anthropocentric perspective and to awaken empathy and imagination toward the mechanosphere.
Su Yongjian, a teacher at the Beijing Film Academy, graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts(CAFA) with a bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree. He is the only winner of the "First Step Award", the highest graduation award of the CAFA in 2017. Many of his works have been collected by the CAFA Art Museum and other institutions, and have been exhibited many times in important exhibitions across the country, Switzerland, Germany and Italy.
