Guo Gong
Born in 1966 in Shanxi, China, Guo Gong currently lives and works in Beijing. Since 2008, he has focused on installation art, creating works that take on diverse forms through the use of varied materials. His “sculptures” are a linguistic reconfiguration of natural objects, challenging and refreshing conventional notions of sculpture. In his practice, objects are not merely materials or tools—they are vessels of ideas and concepts. For Guo, objects return to their essential artistic state, resonating with human nature and awakening a deeper, internal awareness in the viewer. His works are held in the collections of numerous art institutions, including M+ Museum in Hong Kong, Guangdong Museum of Art, and Shanhai Art Museum.
