Humanity permanently produces topography of the metaphysical terrain from multi-level heights and angles that build walls, sets boundaries and horizons. The “Earth‘s surface” in our mind is constantly changing infinitely. A person constantly focuses on various facets of reality, which implies a connection between micro and macro scales, the individual and the collective, and other ambivalences. Throughout history, humanity constructs diverse images of reality to interact with. Gradually, cultural codes “determine for each person the empirical orders with which he will deal and in which he will navigate (Michel Foucault). These foundations serve as both support and barriers to engage with the world’s common essence.


An installation of hand-embroidered, mechanically created tapestries with images from various cultural sources, Francois Boucher and Little Red Riding Hood are mixed into elongated frame tapes. Threads of all kinds of materials connect them to each other and eviscerate their enduring persuasiveness. The viewer goes through the streams of cultural codes, which turn into discourses. Images from diverse art histories blend as a collage, and manifest as if on the negative and positive of a photographic film. The film reel of human models of world perception mixes in a common field of images on a unified, timeless tape. Enduring masterpieces of world art, fleeting memes from social networks – they all share a common foundation: the threads of our connection with the World. Endless world and our endless perception : the support is in the very act of observation and observers.

Anna Kazmina

Born on 1987 in Moscow, Russia

Anna Kazmina, born in 1987 in Moscow, is an accomplished artist with a distinctive approach to her craft. Kazmina holds a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from Beijing Normal University and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Lomonosov Moscow State University. She is a member of the Russian Union of Artists boasting an impressive exhibition history, showcasing her work at esteemed venues worldwide, including Shanghai ART021, Beijing Biennale, Cosmoscow Contemporary Art Fair and Blazar Young Art Fair at Moscow. Her work has received recognition, earning her “The Best Concept” by the Contemporary art fair ART021 and the first prize at the Titian International Art Prize of Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts and a nomination for the Zverev Art Prize in Moscow.

Anna Kazmina's art invites us to contemplate the core principles that shape our contemporary society, the creative processes that give birth to new ideas, and how these concepts influence our actions on both personal and societal levels.  Kazmina's work is a relentless pursuit of authenticity, seeking to break free from the confines of commercialism and societal stereotypes. She strives to uncover hidden potential within the human experience and the world, which she envisions as a unified multiverse, a living organism.

One of the most striking aspects of her worldview is her ability to seamlessly transition from a microscopic focus to a macroscopic perspective, weaving together a myriad of meaning structures into a singular, concentrated thought space. Through her artistic research and experimentation, objects are transformed into organic structures reminiscent of geological phenomena, uniting the universe and humanity into a complex, interconnected organism.

The artist expresses her integrated intuitive-rational perception of the world through various mediums, including painting, graphics, sculpture, video, and
installations, blending different logics and approaches. Iterating mechanical and human craftsmanship to create her works, Kazmina reshapes, melts, and sculpts new configurations. By crushing patterned porcelain, crumpling drawings, tearing existing images, and stripping away layers of paint, among other manipulations, the artist explores and renders the fusion of the organic and inorganic, the artificial and natural, and the symbiosis between humanity and technology.
